Journal Format (KEV)

The KEV serialization for journal articles, journals, issues, and conference papers — the format identifier almost every scholarly OpenURL uses.

The Journal KEV format is the most common metadata format in OpenURL traffic. It covers journal articles, whole journals, individual issues, and certain kinds of conference papers. Its registered identifier is info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:journal.

Notes

  • rft.au is repeatable. Each repetition carries a single author; first surname then forename, separated by a comma.
  • The first author may instead be split across rft.aulast and rft.aufirst. Both styles are accepted.
  • Either rft.pages or the rft.spage/rft.epage pair may be used; both are acceptable.
  • For preprints, set rft.genre=preprint and use rft_id with the relevant identifier (for example info:arxiv/2103.00010). See Preprint (arXiv).
